| THE BEST FASHION STATEMENT |

If I could change one thing about the fashion industry, it would be to make all clothing MODEST.

That may sound cheesy and a bit exaggerated. Some might laugh and roll their eyes, and wonder why a young 21 year old female would say something so ridiculous. The retail marketers and rising fashion designers obviously know what is "in", and modesty is certainly not top on the list. This is not to say all clothing stores carry immodest clothes. Fortunately, there are CUTE and MODEST clothes out there ;) It might require a bit of a search on your part, but the time is worth it!

The way we dress says a lot about who we are and what we think about ourselves. What message are you trying to send?

You want a guy to see you as an object? Go ahead, wear short booty shorts, with a tight revealing shirt.
You want a man who will respect and love you, who will treat you as a woman ought to be treated? Then wear clothing which invites his focus on who YOU are as an individual and not just your body. I challenge any young women reading this to evaluate your wardrobe and get rid of any clothing which is too low, short, tight, worn, revealing..You get the picture! We all can do better to improve in this area--myself included!

I guarantee, if you do the things mentioned above, guys will treat you differently--in a good way. (At least the right guys will notice and appreciate your efforts!)

You don't have to look frumpy or old fashioned. You can wear beautiful and tasteful clothing--but do so by wearing the best fashion statement: modesty!

"Young ladies, being ladies you must constantly wear the hallmark of modesty. No decent man admires an immodest woman" -Elder Hugh B. Brown

“We can create a style of our own. … We must be different. We need not do anything we do not wish to do. We can create our own style and standards . . . " -President Spencer W. Kimball

| P A T T E R N | M I X I N G |

This is my very first fashion post/blog and I am excited to be sharing something that I absolutely love:
F . . . . . . . . A . . . . . . . . S . . . . . . . . H . . . . . . . . I . . . . . . . . O . . . . . . . . N . . . . . . . . . ! !

Today I want to focus on something that I think adds some fun and color into life, and that is pattern mixing! And I'm not talking about how you dressed yourself in third grade with the overload of mismatched outfits ;) This is a step up from that!

First of all, what is pattern mixing and how do you put it all together? Pattern mixing is a concept that was covered in my home décor class this past week; but it can easily be applied to fashion as well. There is a basic rule to go by: 60/30/10. Within this rule, you want to choose colors that will compliment and coordinate well. Here's an example:

What is the 60%? 30%? 10%?

Notice how the colors in the skirt can be seen in the shirt, belt, and heels as well. The designer chose to put floral and stripes together..and guess what?! It works!! I love the simple and pleasing overall look.

Here are a couple more looks that incorporate pattern mixing and the 60/30/10 rule:

TIP: "Try three patterns in a range of scales, such as a narrow stripe, a midsize geometric, and a bold floral."-Better Homes & Gardens

Thanks for stopping by <3
